Job Description:  

The Web Application Architect is responsible for leading and architecting our eCommerce environments for all of the business units within the family of companies. This individual is responsible for the overall system design and documents development requirements for databases, applications, and operating systems. This individual researches, recommends, develops, and tests applications and tools to continuously improve service levels and increase eCommerce utilization and revenue. Individuals in this position are expected to provide second-level support for end user issues. Additionally, this individual will support project efforts by performing build, test, and implementation tasks.


  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) and principal architect for all eCommerce platforms
  • Regularly interface with business leaders and marketing teams to identify business requirements and determining corresponding technical requirements
  • Responsible for the software development life cycle (SDLC) and release management
  • Establish appropriate source code controls
  • Supervise day-to-day activities of web development staff and contracted resources
  • Directly support help desk personnel and proactively engage additional resources as necessary to resolve end user issues
  • Maintain domain registrations and security certificates for eCommerce sites
  • Proactively monitor system status/health and address issues as appropriate
  • Ensure security standards and practices are implemented and maintained within the environment


  • Five-ten years of experience in a dynamic environment designing and developing eCommerce/web applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (Computer Science/Engineering, Management Information Systems, etc.)
  • Intimate knowledge of Microsoft IIS and ASP.NET
  • Extensive experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO)General working knowledge and previous experience with Linux/Apache/PHP sites
  • Experience with PCI data security standards a plus
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and communicate at all levels
  • Relationship building and management skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, able to set priorities and work autonomously
  • Advanced analytical skills; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
