Mainframe Analyst

Job Description: You will be responsible for utilizing technical expertise; creating system requirements, performing design and analysis, and coding and unit testing of complex to highly complex system functionality and/or defect correction across multiple platforms. You will identify ideas to improve system performance and impact availability while resolving complex technical design issues while coordinating system application transition from development teams to maintenance and production teams, and/or constructs and implements necessary controls to assure system/application traceability.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software solutions as per business requirements
  • Complete testing and implementation activities
  • Lead and participate in design and code reviews
  • Support application activities during production events
  • Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes
  • Provide functional and/or technical guidance in evaluating applications systems or evaluating requests for proposals
  • Coordinates changes and influences and prioritizes tasks with business or technical departments
  • Analyzes and influences technical, system, and/or user requirements
  • Identifies and creates solutions to improve system performance and availability
  • Facilitates root cause analysis of system issues to minimize impact and future occurrences

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent related experience
  • 10+ years work experience with development and maintenance of mainframe applications
  • Cobol
  • CICS
  • JCL
  • DB2 (in terms of data access)
  • Experience developing high volume applications
  • Code version control tool
  • Scheduling tool for batch processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’ s Degree or Professional Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
  • At least 10+ years working experience as a mainframe software developer and/or designer or programmer
  • Programming Languages/Tools: COBOL, CICS, JCL, SQL, DB2, Easytrieve, MVS
  • Experience with VSAM and exposure to TSO/ISPF development environments required
