Job Description: We are looking for a Data Warehouse Director who will be responsible and accountable for Data Warehouse and Reporting Services, its strategic, technical, functional, and information value, its availability, serviceability, continuity, and costs.

Duties and Responsibilities Include

• Direct data warehouse projects, their planning, management, and reporting

• Manage and allocate apt team and resources, ensuring projects are completed to desired outcomes within committed time and budget

• Analysis of business requirements and their information needs, in support of BI and reporting across all business areas

• Direct the design of data warehouse functional features, capabilities, facts and business process dimensions; incorporating and specifying these in data models, process models, and implementation artifacts, e.g., database schema, and dictionaries

• Lead the development, QA, documentation and releases of ETL and corresponding data ingestion solutions

• Direct data warehouse operations and administration; oversee staging, master data population, automation routines, jobs, and maintenance/performance solutions

• Direct data stewardship, fact and dimensional data validation and conformance, data setup and configuration, data cross-walk mapping, and managing of data to purpose

• Maintain data warehouse technical architecture specification and future state technology roadmap, its standards, best practices, documentation, and training

• Manage the SDLC, requisite development tools/environments and any managing/supporting platforms needed for projects and artifacts

• Maintain best in class data warehouse development process, use enterprise class tools, repositories, and automation for development, build, test, and deploy

• Command visibility of industry trends, and maintain appropriate skills and knowledge within the team

• Establish and administer policies and standards

• Build and maintaining relationships with the other functional areas with the practice including IT Infrastructure, Clinical, RCM, Operations, Finance, and IT Security

• Organize and structure the data warehouse team, define roles, and responsibilities and manage staffing levels

• Administer team goals objectives, performance management and rewards

• Assess staff capabilities, identify talent gaps, and recruit resources to address practice needs

• Create a high performance team; leverage architecture and governance process, policies and procedures to drive consistency and maturity across all functions

• Manage the DW budget and capacity planning process to ensure acquisition and provisioning of resources required to support both new demands and organic growth

Desired Professional Skills and Experience Include 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience

• Twelve+ years of diverse IT experience with progressive increases in responsibilities

• Team management/leadership experience, including: responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work, and managing performance of team

• Prior management of data focused teams, and experience leading teams through transformations and business growth

• Previous hands-on experience with multiple data technologies and processes, e.g., data architecture, data modeling, ETL, master data management, data governance, data stewardship

• Experience leading teams within an SDLC, support and operations process

• Experience leading and driving large enterprise programs

• Experience with cloud based data warehouse technologies, data lakes, and data stores

• Experienced with leading a migration of traditional data warehouse star/snowflake schema, ETL and staging to cloud enabling architecture, process and technologies

• Experience with data warehouse, database and data management concepts, processes, tools and technologies including but not limited to BI, Big Data, ETL and cloud computing

• Demonstrates deep understanding of data warehouse related audit and compliance goals and processes

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent large and complex projects and undertakings

• Experience collaborating with various business teams, vendors, and managed service providers

• Demonstrated ability to effectively drive and lead organizational change and maturity

  1. Server and storage infrastructure, including Cisco UCS, VMware virtual infrastructure, and Horizon View VDI, Nimble and Active Directory services.
  2. Troubleshoot and resolve incidents with operating systems, hardware, software, and network infrastructure and install, configure, and administer operating system software, patches, and upgrades by designing, configuring, monitoring, and optimizing system hardware for optimal performance, maximum availability, minimal maintenance, and proper documentation.
  3. Administrating and supporting Microsoft, VMware and Cisco technologies
  4. Configuring and managing the storage environment including replication/recovery
  5. Managing and configuring VMware Horizon View VDI environment
  6. Administration and maintenance of MS SQL Server databases
  7. Designing and implementing procedures for monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions
  8. Ensuring compliance with applicable security standards and requirements
  9. Conducting Disaster Recovery planning and testing
  10. Assisting with hardware and software evaluations, recommendations and negotiations
  11. Managing data backup operations and follow procedures to ensure that all data backups are successful, secure, and recoverable
  12. Defining and documenting best practices and support procedures
  13. Developing and implementing project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans
  14. Providing after-hours support for infrastructure related emergencies as well as occasional weekend maintenance
  15. Providing end-user support and training as needed

Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor Degree – Computer Science, Information Systems or other related discipline or proven equivalent professional experience as Systems Engineer; Microsoft and/or VMWare certifications are preferred
  • At least 5 – 10 years of Systems Engineering experience in a large enterprise environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Servers (2008/2012 /2016) and desktop Operating Systems
  • Proficient in managing server virtualization technology (VMware)
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory Users and Groups, including GPO administration
  • Strong knowledge of security standards and implementation of security procedures to maintain compliance with security requirements
  • Basic knowledge of networking and management of network devices like switches, routers and firewalls a plus
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated individual that can work independently on a variety of simultaneous projects
  • Flexible approach to working hours, occasional after hours/weekend work required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to document new processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack and Firewall security in an inter-networking environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service, communications, and presentation skills
  • Ability to serve as a technical mentor to others and guide less experienced engineers and technicians in resolving complex problems
  • Ability to apply expert knowledge of systems engineering to the most complex problems
